Chamber activities reflect significant community needs undertaken by staff and members to make our county a better place in which to live and make a living.

The Chamber was formed in June 1996 and currently has approximately 225 members. Former County Judge-Executive Tommy Bryant has said, "The Chamber may be the most important thing that has ever happened in the county."

"I see this as our great opportunity to get all the people in the county together," Bryant said. "We've got great individual cities, but unity is our goal."

Chamber members gather in various communities for quarterly networking dinners. Past keynote speakers include author and county resident - Wendell Berry, Tom Monahan, Editor of Business First, Charles Mattingly of the Better Business Bureau, and Ron Crouch, director of the state data center at the University of Louisville.

The Chamber publishes a quarterly newsletter entitled Chamber Briefings. It includes articles on business related issues, business tips, addresses concerns of Henry County while updating members on the latest Chamber news.
Economic development activities include creating new jobs, promoting retail activities, conducting economic studies, recruiting new businesses and industries, providing services and information to members, attracting tourists and providing them with information, and member networking and support.

Community development activities include planning for growth, revitalizing downtown retail areas, and encouraging and supporting cultural activities.

Public affairs and relations activities include communicating business and civic activities to local and state governments, and helping members understand the legislative process as it relates to our county.

Other services include free membership directory, Web page listing with links provided to your E-mail address or Web Site, free listing in This Is Henry County Magazine, networking dinners, membership decals, "First Dollar" Program, and assistance with ground breakings and grand openings.  Also, gift certificates are available that can be used in many Henry Co. businesses in order to encourage in county shopping, keeping money in the county.
