| 1. The Henry County Courthouse in New Castle was built in 1877 and contains the original and recently renovated 1877 6. Howard Tower Clock. A visitor can watch it strike on the hour and see all the inner workings. Mon.-Fri., 8am-4pm. and during the Renaissance festival Sat., 9am-4pm. and Sun. 1 -4pm. 30 North Mom Street, New Castle |
5. For the little town of Bethlehem, Christmas is a special time. Churches in the town sponsor a Living Nativity nightly from Dec, 22 -25 that re-enacts the night of Christ's birth. Live animals complete the scene in the stable. The town's post office offers a seasonal postmark for your Christmas cards so they can be delivered to your friends and family bearing the stamp of Bethlehem. | 2. The Highland Renaissance Festival is Henry County's neatest attraction. Located on Highway 22 East just outside of downtown Eminence, it will take you back to 1300. Jousting, plays and vendors of every type will transport the visitor to another time when knights rode white horses and rescued damsels in distress. Saturdays and Sundays. !0am-7pm from June 3 to July 9. 2006. www.kyrenfaire.com | 6. Lake Jericho, located conveniently near exit 28 off 1-71, is one of Henry County's best-kept secrets. The recreational camping area and 137-acre lake features fishing, camping, shelters, outdoor picnic areas and more. | 3. Visit Smith-Berry Winery & Amyx Art Gallery, located on Highway 202 just outside of New Castle, for good wine, beautiful scenery and friendly vintners. 7. The Henry County Historical Society makes its home in the historic Caplinger House (ca 1863) in New Castle. The home has been remodeled to house genealogical materials, county records and other museum items with local significance. Open daily. 10am-noon. • 215 South Main Street • 502-845-7290 |

4. Our Best Restaurant on Highway 1861 in tiny Smithfield is open for breakfast and lunch Sat., 8am-9pm and Sun., 8am-8pm (breakfast until !0:30am) Located in the warehouse if the Old Smithfield Flour Mill, visitors can dine on many delicious menu items like soup beans and fried cornbread, pork chops, fried chicken and even fried green tomatoes. 9. The frame of an historic Low Dutch Meetinghouse was recently discovered near Pleasureville, moved to a nearby farm and restored as Sweet Home Spun. Crafts of all types can be found here as well as the interesting architecture. Watch the owner spin wool from her own sheep to knit beautiful items.
